What this tool does
Many shops still keep udhaar in a register: one page per customer, a line for every sale on credit and every payment. This tool prints those pages ready ruled, with your shop's name at the top and the column headings in English, Urdu or both. It also prints a roznamcha, a daily cash book where you write down every rupee that comes in and goes out, with room for the opening and closing cash. Print as many pages as you need, or choose "Save as PDF" in the print window to keep a file you can print again later.
How to use it
- Choose a khata page or a roznamcha page.
- Type your shop name. For a khata you can add the customer's name and phone, or leave them blank to write by hand.
- Pick the headings, the number of rows and the number of pages, then press Print.
Filling in a khata page
Ali buys goods worth Rs 1,200 on 3 March. On one line write the date, "sugar, oil, soap" under details, 1,200 under Udhaar given, and 1,200 under Balance. On 10 March he pays Rs 500: write 500 under Received and the new balance, 700. The last balance on the page is always what he owes now, so there is nothing to add up when he asks. Udhaar in a khata is simply what was sold less what was paid; it never grows with time.
new balance = previous balance + udhaar given − received
On a roznamcha page, write the opening cash at the top, every receipt and payment on its own line, and at closing: opening cash + total in − total out. That is what should be in the drawer. Count it with the cash counter.
Questions
Can I save the page as a PDF?
Yes. Press Print and choose "Save as PDF" (or "Microsoft Print to PDF") as the printer. On an Android phone, choose "Save as PDF" in the printer list.
Why does the Urdu look different on some computers?
The headings use the Urdu font your device already has. Phones and most computers have one; if yours does not, choose English headings or English and Urdu.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The page is made in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored.
