About Saleva
Saleva (formerly SmartPOS) is an independent Android app for running a small shop. It is built and maintained by one small team in Lodhran, Punjab, Pakistan, and it is used by shopkeepers who mostly do not have an office, an accountant or a reliable internet connection.
Why it exists
Most point-of-sale software is designed for businesses that have a counter computer, a steady connection and someone whose job is to look after the system. That describes very few of the shops in the neighbourhoods around us.
What those shops have is a phone. So Saleva was built for a phone first: the selling screen, stock, customer dues, expenses and reports all work with no internet at all, because a queue at the counter cannot wait for a network to come back. The online parts — syncing a second phone, publishing a product page, taking customer orders — sit on top of that and are optional.
Who makes it
Saleva is made by Muhammad Ahmad and a small team, working from Lodhran in southern Punjab. We are not a large company, and there is no call centre behind this website. When you email us, one of the people who writes the app reads it.
The app is published on Google Play under the developer name Mikao, package com.mikao.smartpos.
How Saleva is funded
We would rather be straightforward about this than have you wonder.
- The app is free, and everything a shop needs to sell, track stock, keep customer dues and see its own reports is free and always works offline.
- Advertising. The free version of the app shows advertisements, and watching an optional short video ad earns credits that unlock online features for a day. Nobody is required to watch anything to run their shop.
- An optional subscription removes ads and enables the paid features without credits.
- This website carries advertising on the informational pages: the articles, guides and tools. A shop's public page, a customer's account page and the download page carry none, and a shop's own data is never used to target what is shown.
What we do with shop data
The short version, with the full detail in our privacy policy:
- Your sales, stock, customers, suppliers, costs and profit live on your phone. They are not uploaded unless you switch on cloud sync or backup.
- If you publish a product page, only what you choose to publish becomes public: your shop name, your phone number if you added one, and product names, categories and selling prices. Cost prices, profit, stock levels, customers, staff and records are never published.
- We do not sell shop or customer data. We do not share customer lists with anyone.
- You can delete your data. The support page explains how, and it works without contacting us.
What we will not claim
We try to describe the app as it actually is. On this site and in the app you will not find invented customer testimonials, made-up user numbers, or features described as finished when they are still being built. If something is only available with a subscription, or only works when you are online, we say so at the point where it matters.
If you find something on this site that is out of date or wrong, please tell us and we will correct it.
The blog
Our blog is written for people who run a shop counter, not for search engines. The guides are about the work — stock, billing, credit, daily records — and they mention Saleva only where it is genuinely relevant. If an article would be just as useful to someone using a paper register, we consider that a good sign.
