What this tool does
Choosing a name is one of the first decisions for a new shop, and the one that goes on the board, the bills and the WhatsApp profile. This tool suggests names for eight common kinds of shop, in English and in Urdu script, from word lists of the kind seen on shop boards across Pakistan: blessed names such as Madina and Barkat, classic bazaar names such as Royal and Shahi, modern English words, and plain Urdu words such as Apna and Rozana. Add your own name, family name or area and it is worked into some of the suggestions. Nothing is sent anywhere; the names are put together in your browser.
How to use it
- Choose the kind of shop and a style.
- Optionally type your name, family name or area, in English and in Urdu.
- Press Show more names for a fresh set, and copy the ones you like.
Worked example
Ahmad is opening a grocery shop in Lodhran. He picks Kiryana / general store and Blessed, types Ahmad and احمد, and gets ideas such as "Al-Madina General Store" (المدینہ جنرل اسٹور) and "Barkat Ahmad Kiryana Store". He shortlists three and asks a few customers which one they would remember.
Before you paint the board
- Look around. If a shop nearby already has the name, choose another; customers will mix you up.
- Say it on the phone. A name that is easy to say and spell is easier to recommend.
- Check it is free online. Search for it on WhatsApp Business, Facebook and Google Maps in your city.
- Think about registration. If you plan to register the name or a trademark, check with the trademark registry first. A suggestion here is only an idea and is not checked against any register.
Questions
Are these names free to use?
They are common words put together, and many shops use similar names. The tool does not check any register, so check locally and with the trademark registry if you plan to register the name.
Why is the Urdu missing for some names?
When you type your own name in English only, the tool cannot spell it in Urdu for you. Type it in the Urdu box as well and every suggestion gets an Urdu version.
Is this made by AI?
No. The names come from fixed word lists on this page, combined at random in your browser.
