SmartPOS

Support

Most things in SmartPOS are meant to be figured out without a manual. Here are the questions that come up most.

Please include your shop name and, if it helps, a screenshot. We read every message but cannot promise a response time.

Getting started

Setting up your shop

Install SmartPOS, enter a shop name and currency, and you are ready to sell. You can add products by typing them in or by scanning barcodes at the counter — if you scan a barcode SmartPOS does not recognise, it offers to create the product on the spot.

Removing the sample products

If you let the setup wizard add demo products, a card appears on the Products screen to delete them all at once. It disappears once they are gone.

Your online product page

Turning it on

Open Settings and enable your product page. SmartPOS gives you a shop code and a link in the form smartpos.space/s/YOURCODE. Share it on WhatsApp, print it on receipts, or share it as a QR code.

What customers can see

Only what you publish: your shop name, phone number if you added one, and your product names, categories and selling prices. Cost prices, profit, stock counts, suppliers, staff and your records are never shown.

Taking orders

Customers browse on the web, then tap Order in app, which opens SmartPOS on their phone. Ordering deliberately happens in the app so orders arrive at your till rather than in a separate inbox.

Turning it off

Switch the product page off in Settings and the link stops working immediately.

Backup and restore

Back up to your own Google Drive from Settings. The backup lives in your Google account, not ours, and staff never get access to it. To move to a new phone, install SmartPOS, choose Restore from backup during setup, and sign in with the same Google account.

Keep a backup before restoring anything. SmartPOS saves a recovery copy before it replaces your data, but a backup of your own is always safer.

Staff and multiple devices

Staff install SmartPOS, choose Join an existing shop, and enter your shop code. You approve the request on your own phone and pick exactly what that person can do. You can change permissions or remove someone at any time.

Syncing between devices needs internet. Each device keeps selling offline and catches up when it reconnects.

Deleting your data

You control this from inside the app — no email required.

  • Shop owners: Settings → Delete cloud data. This permanently deletes your shop from our servers: synced records, devices, staff list, join requests, published catalogue and orders. You can also tick the option to erase everything on the phone at the same time.
  • Staff: Settings → Leave this shop. This removes your device and your membership. Sales you rang up stay with the shop, because those are the shop's business records rather than your personal data.

Both actions also delete the anonymous account your device was using, once it no longer belongs to any shop. Deletion cannot be undone, so export or back up anything you want to keep first.

If you cannot open the app, email support@smartpos.space from the address you used, including your shop name and shop code.

Troubleshooting

My receipt printer won't connect

Pair the printer in Android's Bluetooth settings first, then select it in SmartPOS under Settings → Receipts. Thermal printing currently prints Latin characters; for other scripts, share the PDF invoice instead.

Changes aren't syncing

Check that you are online and that Work offline is switched off in Settings. Changes queue on the device and upload when the connection returns — nothing is lost in the meantime.

The app is in the wrong language

Settings → Language. You can set the app language and the language used on printed invoices separately.
